Why St. Francis?

St. Francis' early life was one of luxury without want. He then went to war, was captured, and fell ill. During this time, he began receiving visions from God changing his life forever. After the war, he left behind his life of luxury by leaving his father's dreams of becoming a great merchant. Francis then had to live in the wilderness. Francis considered all nature to be the mirror of God. He is the patron saint of animals and the environment.

Our community is blessed beyond all measure, much like St. Francis was. Together, we strive to live more like Jesus by following Francis' example: leaving behind our material luxuries for a life dedicated to God and our neighbor. Much of our parish members spend their days in nature and with animals working the ground.

St. Francis, pray for us!
