Why St. Wendelin?
St. Wendelin was devout in his faith even as a young person - he snuck out of his house on a pilgrimage to Rome. He settled as a hermit on his way back but entered into a life of service as a landowner's herdsman after being blamed for an unemployed life. Later, he returned to his hermit life and established a company of hermits as well. After his death, the small town of St. Wendel came to be near the saint's grave. His intercessory prayer was powerful in times of contagious diseases and pestilence in cattle. St. Wendelin is the patron saint of country people and herdsmen.
Our parish strives to live more like Jesus by following St. Wendelin's example and devoting our lives to prayer and work for the Lord. Our church and its grounds have been taken care of by the hard work of our parishioners for over a century.
