Parish Council Notes

  • Merger Status
    • The appeal already went through the Archbishop and Congregation for the Clergy. The latest update came that states Apstolic Signatura received the appeal and it went to the secretary, who decides whether it is deemed worthy to move forward and he has denied moving it on.
    • The cluster appeal group has thus appealed it again. Tribunal may just ignore and assume the response is no, but they may also respond.
  • Community Events in Bulletin?
    • A parishioner submitted a parish council agenda item to ask why community events are not published in the bulletin.
    • Reason: limited space and it’s hard to say who can and who can’t. Where and how do you draw the line? This has been an issue in the past as well. Other individual groups (ex: School) put out newsletters and they don’t advertise for other groups (ex: church) and no one finds fault with it. For reference, other area churches are also eliminating community events.
    • Final decision: Community Events will not be published in the bulletin
  • Mass Changes
    • (Latin Parts) Appreciation of the notification of upcoming changes and catechesis in the Masses and bulletins, worry was expressed about the desire to participate
      • Song cards have been made to help aid in the sung parts.
    • (Low Mass) Some council members have received negative feedback about the low Mass and the loss of music in St. Francis.  Fr. Hess met with the choir and although there is a sadness, some of them are willing to move to the other choirs.
      • Instruction on Sacred Music: If you are going to sing this is the order of doing it…
        • 1. Priest parts 2. Antiphons 3. Hymns.
        • Ex: Number 3 should not be sung if 1 and 2 are not being sung.
  • Evangelization:
    • St. Martin's Day went so well and we need to continue events like these
  • Traditional Latin Mass @ St. Aloysius Status:
    • Fr. Hess spoke with the chancellor and to seek permission to get started - waiting on response.
  • Administrative Update
    • Staffing
      • Jill Gelhaus is done with PLC at St. Bernard and Jenny Miller will be sliding into her role.
      • There is still a need for CCD teachers in January.
